Royall indoor forced air wood and/or coal furnaces are designed for years of quality, maintenance free service. The tradition that started in 1968 continues today with our USA made series of indoor wood furnaces designed with a forced draft system that directs air below the cast iron furnace grates efficiently burning wood from the bottom. The systems connect easily to any existing conventional air heating system you already have in place, or as a supplement to an existing heating system.

Each indoor wood furnace we build is hand crafted with state of the art equipment and built to code for use in any location. With a heat output of 95,000 to 150,000 btu, Royall indoor furnaces can help you heat your home or business to almost any temperature for a fraction of what you’re heating costs are now.

It is important to choose an indoor wood/coal furnace that is correctly sized for your home. An undersized wood furnace needs to be fired more often, while an oversized furnace will be less efficient and can contribute to dangerous creosote buildup. Royall indoor forced air wood furnaces are quality and backed with a (6) year limited warranty on materials and workmanship. Castings and electrical components are backed by their manufacturer warranties for (1) year from the installation date. No warranty is provided on Firebrick and gaskets.

Burning WOOD:

Wood should be seasoned (dried) for at least 12 months prior to burning. Wood should be split as soon as possible and loosely stacked in a dry spot. Properly seasoned wood should only contain about 20%-25% moisture content.

You should never burn solely wet or ‘green’ wood in this furnace. Burning wet wood not only reduces the efficiency of the furnace, but will also increase the dangerous creosote build up in the furnace and chimney.

Softwoods, such as pine and fir are easily ignited and burn rapidly with high heat flames. Utilizing softwoods means you spend more time reloading the furnace and creates difficulty achieving an overnight burn.

It is best to use dense hardwoods for a longer lasting fire. Ideally you should burn a mixture of hardwoods and softwoods. Us the hotter, faster burning softwoods to start the fire, and denser hardwoods to maintaining the longer lasting fire you are wanting.

Burning COAL:

The Royall furnace has been tested for operation with anthracite (hard) and bituminous (soft) coal.

Anthracite: Also known as Hard Coal, is lustrous coal with a high carbon content that burns with a clean, blue, nearly smokeless flame.

Bituminous: Also known as Soft Coal, is soft and has a high sulfur content that burns with a yellow, smokey flame. This coal tends to contain more impurities and sulfur, which means it can decrease the expected lifespan of your Royall Furnace and it’s components. If you choose to burn bituminous coal, be sure to select only high-grade bituminous coal.

The Royall indoor furnace can be easy installed by a professional to existing furnace, or used as a stand alone furnace that you can tie into your duct work by simply adding on the 4 speed blower and filter box options.
